Q: What kind of music do you sing?
A: I'm open to anything, but usually opera, classical (especially contemporary), rock, church music, and musical theatre.
A: I'm a coloratura soprano, which means I can sing high and fast. But I also belt, when appropriate.
Q: I know you sing really high- what's your range?
A: As far as low notes go, I don't usually like singing below a G below middle C. But for high notes, I can comfortably sing a C above high C, and have done so in performance (PDQ Bach's Perckenstck).
Q: Can I hire you to sing at a wedding/funeral/special occasion?
A: Absolutely! I have a partial list of wedding songs here. Other options available upon request- but I can learn pretty much anything. Email Me and we'll talk.
Q: Can I hire you to sing on my/my band's new album?
A: Sure! I can do either lead or back-up without problems, I learn music quickly and stay in tune. Just drop me an email.
Q: Do you play any instruments?
A: Only if I have to. I can get by on piano and guitar, but I'm really a singer first.
Q: Do you have sheet music or tabs for any of your songs?
A: Not yet, sorry. I do have handwritten versions of some classical and liturgical compositions, but I don't have any music publishing software and my handwriting sucks.
Q: Where did you come up with the slogan "Not just another pretty voice"?
A: I've been using it since college, because I think it describes me well. The market is saturated with young sopranos with great voices, but whose talents stop there. My versatility, musical skills, dramatic performances, and personality have always set me apart from the crowd.
Q: Why should I hire you instead of the next guy?
A: When you start working with me, the difference becomes obvious quite rapidly. I learn and memorize quickly, and always face new challenges with a "let's do it!" attitude. I am friendly and easy to work with, and can turn any piece into an exciting performance.
Q: What kind of music do you listen to? Who are your influences?
A: I'm the kind of person who gets annoyed listening to the same songs over and over again, so I tend to seek out smaller bands, local and underground music. But if really pressed for my favorite famous artists, I cite PJ Harvey, Rammstein, and Muse.
I think the biggest influences on my music come from a combination of the alternative and hard rock that I listen to, and the contemporary classical music that is my passion. Strange modalities and rhythm changes always creep into my pop music, while my rock 'n' roll attitude colors everything in my life up to and including my classical career. This melding of genres is one of the things that distinguishes me as an artist, and it's something I plan to mine ever deeper.
Q: How many sopranos does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: One. She just holds it and the world revolves around her.
